Pedestrian movement is considered an important part of the
design process, accordingly pedestrian routes to POS, riverside
walk, Turnchapel and existing public transport nodes are easily
accessible by foot.
Cycle routes surrounding the site are at present limited. There
are no national routes to link into. As
a result cyclists will be expected to use the highway routes to
travel.
Vehicular movement is clear. The highways are car friendly as
a result of using the LPA’s highway design guide as a basis for
highway design.
Wherever desirable, the footpaths are detached from the
highway to promote more direct and convenient pedestrian
footpaths. Similarly, the highway has been adapted to be more
varied and irregular to promote a more organic street that
better responds to the enclosing built form.

Once constructed the new footpath will provided elevated views over Hooe Lake

Pedestrian links and the loop road offer easy access from any part of the site back to the site access. From here, people can easily get to the local bus stop by foot. The closest bus stop is at the junction of Hooe and Barton Road within 800metres of the site.

The large area of open space features a natural play area for children. The frontage along its boundary ensures its well overlooked.
The large area of green open space on the west side of the development site is an integral part of the whole design. The open space is easy to get to by foot and bicycle directly from the site access point.
